How to Move During Snowy Weather

Snow… what a glow! Some love it, and others hate it. But, what happens when you have to move in it?

The good news is that here in the glorious New Jersey, our municipalities are well-equipped to handle a lot of snow in terms of clearing the roads and assuring everybody stays safe.

However, moving in the snow does come with its complications.

Your best NJ movers have some hacks for you that you may utilize when moving:

Clear the Walkways

Whether you’re dealing with a few inches to a few feet, it’s important that the walkways are clear and salted. This is for the safety of everyone assisting packing trucks and cars, and those who are walking in and out of your home. Take extra care and time to properly shovel the driveway and walkways up to your home and make a clear path.

Towels, Towels, Towels

One of the biggest issues that people complain about when moving in the snow, is that the white stuff is a mess, both inside and outside of the home. Despite the best intentions, snow is often tracked into the home, making a watery mess everywhere. Your best NJ movers say to place some old towels down as well as old sheets to catch said mess. This hack will make things a lot easier.

Don’t lose your cool when delays occur, because they will. If the weather is bad, you may have to reschedule moving day. This is why Van Express recommends moving several weeks in advance of your original move date, if possible. There may also be times when a commercial vehicle is slower due to bad weather. Be very patient, your move will happen eventually.

With bad weather, you’ll get dropping temperatures. Remember, this is when you have to consider your drivers and their safety. Do not move anything that’s too fragile, or that will break in bad weather, either. There have been instances where fragile wares become too cold, and they become prone to breaking.
