How to Freshen Up Your Home This Spring

You’re freshly moved in and loving every second of it. There’s one thing, though, that isn’t so perfect, and that’s the smell in your new house. In fact, it’s less than perfect.

Before you head to the grocery store, dollar store or Home Depot for chemical-ridden air fresheners and sprays, allow us, Van Express – your best NJ movers – to assist you.

The chemicals you spray into the air in your home might not be the best for your or your family’s health, plus it’s not great for the environment, either. Consider some natural alternatives:

SPRAY – Mix a couple of drops of vanilla extract, almond extract or other scents with a cup of water, then spritz the mixture in the air with a spray bottle

SIMMER – Put white vinegar in a small saucepan and simmer it on a stovetop for about 40 minutes – this is a good option to rid your home of particularly strong smells; you may also simmer orange zest mixed with a teaspoon of cinnamon in water for a more pleasant aroma

SPRINKLE – To rid your kitchen of nasty smells, shake some baking soda below the trash bag in the trash can itself; repeat weekly

SQUEEZE – Before you vacuum your home, squeeze some drops of fresh lemon into your vacuum bag or canister; this will be sure to freshen the bag and the carpets around the house
