We’re living in a day and age where wastefulness is frowned upon, but “going green” is the new way of life. How are you saving money, time, and most importantly, energy? Van Express, your best NJ movers, have you covered with some fresh ideas, so take note.
- AIR IT OUT: Save some electricity by stopping your dishwasher before it reaches its drying cycle. Open its door a tiny bit, and let the dishes dry on their own.
- SHOWER COMPETITION: In your house, see who can take the fastest shower! Why, you ask? Taking up to two minutes off your shower time can save up to 150 gallons of water a month, assuming your shower head is low-flow and up to code
- GADGET-FREE FAMILY NIGHT: Once a week, be sure to turn off all of your electronics at nighttime, starting when the children come home from school. It won’t save a lot of power, but every little bit helps the environment, right? Use that saved time to recharge yourself and your relationships; read a book, have game night, or catch-up on a hobby of yours…you can even go out to dinner as a family!
- DIY DRYER SHEETS: By making your own, longer-lasting dryer sheets, that’ll equate to one less thing to plug up the landfill. Soak bright washcloths in your favorite fabric softener for about 10 minutes. Then, wring them out and simply toss them into the dryer with your wet clothes. You can use the very same cloth up to 20 times before re-soaking.
